17 years’ old Dusabimana Eugenie says that her life was transformed after being part of the USAID Gimbuka Project beneficiaries. Resident of Rutsiro district, Kigeyo sector, Nkora Cell. Dusabimana had dropped out of school due to financial constraints that her family was facing at that time. A passionate of welding, she was selected as a USAID Gimbuka Program beneficiary, to pursue her education in welding.

The program covered Dusabimana’s tuition fees at the IPRC Karongi and through partnership with the Rubavu district, the program secured an internship opportunity at the VIP Atelier de Soudure, to allow her  to better understand the theories, ideas, and practices of the welding field by actively engaging in a hands-on and work-based, learning experience.

‘’Gimbuka not only covered my tuition fees, they also covered my living expenses during my internship period’’, she says.

USAID Gimbuka Program is a USAID funded project implemented by Caritas Rwanda under USAID-Caritas Rwanda Cooperative Agreement since 2012.Through its investments, Caritas Rwanda /USAID Gimbuka aims at improving the health, education and nutritional status of Rwandans in order to accelerate Rwanda’s progress to middle income status and better quality of life through sustained growth and poverty reduction.
