''When I look at this farming land that I have purchased and all sorts of crops that I am growing, I feel hopeful for a better life’’.

Nyiramariza Cansilda, resident of the Kiziba Refugee Camp is grateful to Caritas Rwanda’s support through the UNHCR-funded ‘’Caritas Graduation Project’’, which has transformed her life. ‘’Prior to joining the project, I was living a miserable life. I could not even afford to buy soap, or a farming land to financially support my family’’. She says.

‘’I took RWF 300,000 from the project’s funds and purchased a farming land, since i was passionate about farming in general.I now grow various crops such as cassavas, maize and sweet potatoes and bananas, which once harvested generate funds that allow me to support my family financially’’ Nyiramariza adds.

Funded by UNHCR, Caritas Graduation Project is being implemented by Caritas Rwanda in Kiziba, Mahama and Nyabiheke Refugee Camps and their hosting communities.  In line with the project’s main output which are: Increased livelihoods and economic opportunities, Caritas Rwanda adopts the system of training the beneficiaries for behaviour change, for the better implementation of the beneficiaries’ income generating activities, as well as income saving through SILC (Saving and Internal Lending Community) groups.

Nyiramariza says that funding received from is the stepping stone to what she has achieved and to how far she aims at reaching.

The Caritas Rwanda appreciates the support and guidance offered by UNHCR to help Caritas Graduation Project in changing lives of refugee communities in Rwanda.
