ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE LAST 5 YEARS
To make Laudato Si accessible to a large population, the National Bureau of Catechesis has started its translation into the local language (for young people preparing for the various sacraments and teachers of religious lessons) and the National Service for Catholic Education in Rwanda referred to it and produced an environmental protection booklet in mother tongue, being used in the education of children of primary schools.
Under the financial support of Sister Caritas (CRS, Caritas Slovenia, Caritas International Belgium, Caritas Austria) and the Rwandan, Belgian and Slovenian Governments, Caritas Rwanda in collaboration with Diocesan Caritas, has carried out multiple activities including the promotion of agro -ecology, bio-pesticides, organic manure, renewable energy, bench terraces etc.
These actions have made it possible to reduce erosion, the emission of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide), the effects of pesticides, the pollution of river/[lakes, oceans] waters, the cutting of forests for firewood, and promotion of biodiversity and natural fertility restoration.
